Update of my studies

Hi Everyone! ^-^

I realise that I haven't been blogging in a long time. Sorry for that, it's just, I've been very busy with studying as the workload in year 2 is immense and I've been preoccupied with other things O.o; Anyway, in the last few weeks a lot has happened, of course, I won't go into detail about everything XD

Labs this year are 10 hours a week, instead of 8 a week last year, which might not seem like much, but it really is a lot more work and so much more tiring! Though, the labs are a lot more fun to do also, which of course is a big plus :) I just finished this weeks labs yesterday, so today is a study day, i.e. go to lectures, start to write up my labreport, do some maths assignment, look through my lectures notes and do some homework problems... Jeez that sounds like a lot of work O.o; But that's what I plan to do xD

Because of some personal issues I've been having, I've been listening more to myself and thinking about what it is that I really want out of my life and how I can make it better for 'me'. So I've been hanging out more with my friends and stopped isolating myself in my room as much. I've actually been going out and drinking more as well, which I guess is good for building up my experience and of course alcohol tolerance hehehe ^-^; The main decision I've made, though, is that I really want to go to Africa and do volunteer work with animals, and I've taken steps to ensure that I can actually go. I have a telephone call with the organisation I'm going with next week, so more on that when I know more myself xD

One of the best things that I've done recently is go to Edinburgh with the Photography Society. My first time in Scotland, It was AWESOME! and so B-E-A-Utiful :D (I'll post some pictures I took later on). We left on a Thursday night, after my last exam for Semester 1 and when we got to the hostel we of course unpacked and went to the pub :) Friday we had a guided tour of Edinburgh organised by the hostel, which was really nice. Then me, Hector, James, Virginia and Tom did the whisky experience where we rode in a whisky barrel to see the process of whisky production, tried some whisky and saw a collection of 3500 whisky bottles (unopened)! It was really cool! In the evening we (the whole group) had mexican food and then went on a pubcrawl, which was amazing! ^-^ I think over the whole night I had 2 pints of cider, 1 pint of ale, 1 rum and coke, 1 pint of heineken, 1 cherry-ish shot, 2 sambuka shots and a tequila shot.... as you may guess I was a bit drunk :) Though I can still remember what I had and where we went and what we talked about, so I guess it can't have been that bad :D Also, a big bonus is that I didn't have a hangover at all! Though when I showered the next morning I do think I was still a bit drunk 'cause the shower was spinning a little O.o; hehehe... The next day (after going to bed at like 4:30am) I got up at 8:30 to have a shower and breakfast and in the afternoon, when everybody had woken up, me and a few of the group went to see Edinburgh castle, which was really beautiful. Afterwards we roamed around Edinburgh a little, ordered indian food and in the evening we went a tiny pub where 3 men were singing folk whilst playing their guitars, which was lovely. Then we climbed up a hill to this great unfinished copy of the Parthenon , which is also called Scotland's Disgrace because it was never finished. We stayed there for a while taking night-time pictures, which (I hope) turned out great :) On Sunday we roamed around the city a bit and then flew back to Soton around 2 o'clock.

So that's my story about Edinburgh. I'd love to go again and see a bit more of the nature of Scotland, maybe go camping with my parents there sometime, who knows. Anyway, my first experience of Scotland was amazing :D

I think this blog is long enough for now, so when I know more about my trip to Africa I'll let you know ^-^

Love you guys! and I'll try to blog more often from now on :)

Back in the UK

Hi Everyone,

I left the Neths yesterday and entered life in the UK again.... Mom and Opa waved me goodbye at the airport and I arrived in Soton at 17:15. It was actually quite weird, because 3 days ago I was sort of pre-homesick, while I was still in Groningen, which was very depressing. However, when I arrived in Soton I was really joyful. I was looking forward to seeing my friends again and to get my room sorted out, which is pretty much done now.... after a whole evening and morning cleaning up O.o;

When I was back in University grounds, the first thing I did was call Iman to say I was back. Apparently, just the day before, she'd been wondering when I was coming back because she missed me, awww ^-^ So, we had dinner together in the Pub and afterwards she had to go back to work again 'cause she has to finish her dissertation in 2 weeks. During dinner we were so happy to see each other again that we already discussed moving in together next year XD together with her brother AND... wait for it..... a kitten!!!!! :D OMG! I got so excited :) It might of course go very differently in the end....but it's fun to discuss that sort of thing anyway ^-^

Today I'm going food shopping and I have to go to the landlord as well.... cause there are mould spots in my room..... of course...... but it'll be fine, I hope.

So that's the first update from me, back in the UK ^-^
Love you all!

Update from Groningen

Hi everybody ^-^

It's been ages since I last posted something I know, but it was kind of because I'm at home currently (aka The Netherlands) and this blog was actually made for when I'm in the UK and the homefront wants to know how I am doing, so I thought it was kinda pointless blogging whilst in The Netherlands...... but then my dad said that I should blog again..... so here I am.... blogging for all of you :D yeey!

So here's what's been going on:
I've been to Italy!!! for just one week, but it was AWESOME XD It was bloody hot, which I don't like too much (I'm more a spring and autumn person), but the country was amazing. We were in a villa with my family (my sis, Amber, and my parents) and with really good friends of ours (Gijs, his parents, his Grandpa and his Uncle). The villa was in Umbria on top of a hill, which had a great view! :)
We saw loads of cool towns, cities and of course churches :D The thing was, though.... we drove there from Groningen.... Which is like 2 days drive TO Umbria and 2 days back.... Luckily Gijs' family owns an appartment in Switzerland where we could sleep in between traveling. Actually, though Italy is amazing, I think I was most in awe of the mountains in Switzerland. They were so cold, whilst when we were down again it was above 30 degrees..... it was just a weird and very beautiful experience ^-^

So Italy was great and Switzerland too :P After that 1 week in Italy we went by Leiden, which is where my uncle lives and we visited him in the hospital, because his big intestine was almost completely removed.... He seemed okay, but he was already recovering for like a week when we got there. I stayed with him in Leiden, taking care of him for 2 weeks, which was really nice, but also quite tiring. Though if I were to go back in time I'd do it again no questions asked :) It was really a lot of fun meeting all his friends there and helping with the popquiz he helped organize for his runningclub.

So 3 weeks I spent away from home and I couldn't wait to get back to Fudge (that's my cat for anyone who didn't know that yet ^-^). Since then Fudge has been sleeping with me in my bed for almost the entire time I've been back and I dread the time when I'm back in Soton, in my bed, without his comfort.... but that's just what it's gotto be like. To kinda make up for not having a pet I'm gonna volunteer at the Cinnamon Trust in Soton, which is a trust that helps ill and older people to look after their pets (link: http://www.cinnamon.org.uk/ctrust.html). Really... as soon as I get my own appartment and can afford to have a dog, I'm going to get myself a dog. I have been living without one for my entire life and I can't wait much longer to get one O.o;

Anyway... so here I am, at home in Groningen. I'm going to De Efteling this Saturday and I'm probably going to visit Wendy soon as well. I love being here, doing loads of fun stuff, but I'll be going back to the UK on the 10th of September already, 'cause I still need to do some studying before I start the new academic year. I'll be missing home when I go back to the UK, but at least I'll be back for Christmas and hopefully Nicolette, Alan, Alex and Ollie will also join us then all the way from the USA. hahah that rhymed ^-^

so, thanks to my dad you got a bit of an update again from me.
Leave comments! thnx ^-^

What I did in the past month and Exam RESULTS!!!

Hi everyone! Another lengthy blog from me today ^-^
I've been meaning to blog for a while, but just haven't come round to sitting down and actually doing it O.o;

So, quite a while ago already on 12th, 13th and 14th of June I went to London to visit my ex-chemistry-teacher Antione Giusti. It was a really awesome weekend and we did loads of fun stuff! We went to the Saatchi Gallery, the Natural Histroy Museum, Camden Town and the London Zoo. I also played some games on his Playstation 3, which was amazing! I really want one...but it's too expensive *-*
It really was a lovely weekend. The first day I was there I helped him in the kitchen, cooking an indian recipe of which I forgot the name, but it was deliscious! And the next day we made brownies (according to a secret recipe, which he taught me ^-^ I feel so lucky!). They were heavenly XD
I went back on the Sunday with a bag full of pots in one hand and 8 big moving boxes in the other.... It was heavy and tiring, but well worth it, because I really needed those boxes to move all my stuff to my new house... OMG I didn't realise that I had so much stuff O.O Everytime I thought I was getting to the end, more stuff came from every corner *-* Anyway, all that is now in my new house, to which I'm moving tomorrow, so the unpacking can begin tomorrow afternoon o.O I'm looking forward to it already.... not

Another thing I did last month was celebrate Iman's FIRST!!! She got a first on her second semester, which means she got 70% or higher on her whole semester. She already had a first on her first semester, so now she only needs to get a first on her thesis and then she'll have no problem getting into a phD. SO we celebrated with a desserts dinner :P OF course ^-^ hehehe

It was awesome! We made:
Deepfried Cauliflower (very tasty)
Chips
I know these are not desserts, but we were just very hungry after shopping... So we needed some power food. And considering we were in the kitchen preparing all this for about 3 hours O.O! it was a good descision to have some power food ^-^

So after consuming that we made:
OREO Cheesecake
Brownies (according to Antione's secret recipe)
Strawberry/ Banana Smoothie
Rhubarb and Strawberry Crumble
And truffles
(you can look at all these deliscious creations in the side bar with a link to my picassa account)

I had loads of fun with Iman and either tomorrow or thursday we're gonna celebrate again, because the results of my last semester were just phoned in by the parents XD

I got 71.3% average over the year!!!! YEEY ^-^ A FIRST!!!! :D Happy dance time!
<(o.o<)...........<(o.o)>...........(>o.o)>............<(o.o)>................<(o.o<).......<(o.o)>........(>o.o)>

So, basically I passed my first year of Chemistry with a really good grade :)
Now I'm going to enjoy my last few days here and look forward to Saturday, because the parents and Psycho sister (teehee... LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU AMBER! ^-^) are coming over to see my new crib XD I'll be back in the Frog Country by Monday and I can't wait! I wanna HUG Fudge!!!! :D

Anyway, that's it for now, next time I'll probably be blogging from the Neths.... If I find the time and need to blog.. O.o; so...... thanks for reading!

Love,
Fleur ^-^

Recap of my studies..... and procrastination :)

Hi all! ^-^

It's been ages since I posted a blog, so I thought I'd update it a bit :D Also, I just studied for like 2 hours, so I can use a break XD

So.... as some of you may know my mom came to visit me for a few days, Yeey! We spoke on the phone on Saturday and I said that I kind of regretted telling her not to come to England 'cause I had to study for exams. I'd already studied quite a lot and most of the stuff I already knew, so it actually would've been fine for her to come visit me.... So I was a bit sad about that *-*

Anyway, the next day, Sunday morning 8:30, I was still asleep x_x Mom and Dad called me again saying they had a surprise for me ^-^ Mom was gonna come visit me :) I was so happy that I was wide awake at that point. She was actually arriving at Southampton airport at 9:20 pm that same Sunday!! OMG O.O! So the rest of the day I studied loads so that I'd have more time with mom :D That evening I picked her up at the airport and we watched a film :) hehehe and guess what? She, of course, fell asleep halfway through the film XD So cute!

The next day we went to the estate agent to get all my paperwork sorted and as always they bugged me about getting the others to come and get all their stuff sorted, but I told them I wouldn't do that because I'd done that loads of times already and it wasn't my problem anymore.... I actually got a bit pissed at this lady, because she tried to make her problem into mine, saying that she was very busy and the landlord kept nagging at her and stuff like that. So I didn't really go into any discussion, because I just wanted to get all my stuff sorted, which we did. Also, I was in contact with our fourth person for the house, Electra (she's from Greece), and on Tuesday she had also signed, which really got a load of stress off my shoulders ^-^

The rest of Monday was spent in the city centre, SHOPPING of course hehehe XD I got 3 new trousers, a T-shirt and 2 blouses... and some other stuff ^-^ It was so much fun finally shopping with mom again. I've really missed that a lot.... Anyway, on our way back we went past ASDA and got ourselves some dinner and snacks and when we got home we had some lovely entrecotes, coliflower with cheese and roasted potatoes YUMMM :)

On Tuesday, mom went to Portsmouth to let me study some more. She went to the Charles Dickens museum and strolled around a bit apparently.... I was sitting on my bed, doing past papers and thinking of the amazing dinner we were gonna have. Yes, you might've guessed it, we went to the Cowherds! ^-^ I had the Beef, Mushroom and Guinness pie and mom had a Duck and apricots. It was deliscious, so good even, that we didn't dare to go for a dessert....... we were stuffed! x_x But it WAS deliscious :P After dinner we walked home and got slightly lost, because we wanted to try a shortcut route, which turned out to be a longcut hehehe... O.o; But the awesome thing, though, was that we saw a Fox!!! my first fox since I got here!! yeey :D

On Wednesday, mom had to leave, but we had a nice morning together anyway. After mom left, though, I couldn't really do much anymore.... so I think I did half a past paper and watched Will&Grace for the rest of the night. I had a great time mom!! But you knew that already ^-^

So.... I guess that's about it. I had fun times with mom and Electra signed!! YEEY, so I don't need to worry about the house that much anymore :) Also, I will probably be going to London after exams to see my ex-chemistry-teacher. I was gonna go with Wendy, but she's too busy with her own stuff to go with me to London, so I guess I'll be going alone ...O.o; disappointing, but it'll still be fun I think :D

Oh, and if you're wondering when I'll be getting back to good old Holland... this will be the first weekend in July. Mom and Dad will come pick me up and we'll go to London to say goodbye to Lotte, who's going on a world trip!! O.O AWESOME!

Okay, that's it ^-^
Love you all!! Hope to see you soon :)
~xxx~ Fleur
btw. Congrats Lotte! hope you liked my gift and of course that you'll have a great party, LOVE YOU! ^-^

Back in Southampton and no more worries about AstroPhysics XD

Hi everyone,
I thought it's been a while since I last blogged and I know some people are wondering how I'm doing, being here in Southampton again.

My first day back at Uni was absolutely backbreaking.... After a month holiday and way too little revision I was thrown in the deep end (mostly my own fault though) when in the morning I had a double workshop for Organic Chemistry. I'd not been too good at working out mechanisms when we left for holiday, but now I was a total airhead.... O.o; And that was only the beginning.... After the workshop I had to eat really quickly and sit in a lecture theater for 50 minutes awaiting 4 hours of Organic labs O.O This was I think the first time in a lecture where I actually almost fell asleep, OMG! Then after fighting sleep in the lecture I was straight on through to the labs where of course I was the last one out... as always, after a full 4 hours of labs. I crashed on my bed when I got home x_x.

Luckily, though, on Tuesday I only started at 11, so I had quite a good sleep. This time we actually had an hour break before labs so we could calmly enjoy our lunch on the grass and in the sun outside :) In the morning we had Astrophysics, which went okay, especially as he told us our exam results were all between 40 and 88% meaning that we as least got 40% AWESOME! Before labs, in our lunch break, me and Pete went to the Physics building to pick up our Astro problem sheets and exams and I was totally stunned by my result! The problem sheet got 95/105, which I kind of expected, but then when I saw my exam result I couldn't believe it! I got a friggin 81.5%!!! O.O!! I was HAPPY for the ENTIRE rest of the day, even labs couldn't quench my joy ^-^ Even when we got out at 6 after labs (AGAIN) I was still psyched :D

So today it's supposed to be really warm, the forecasts says 21 degrees! Woohoooo :D So I'm gonna sit outside in the sun after my workshop and lecture :) So that was it for now... I need to get some breakfast in me before I go to Uni, but it's probably gonna be a great day ^-^ OMG! 81.5% I still can't believe it!

Love you all!

In JAPAN!

Hello everybody!!! ^-^

Me and Wendy just got to Japan! XD We arrived at Kansai Airport yesterday at 10:16 am Japanese time... for us this was about 2 in the morning... O.o; So we were pretty out of it *-* Nevetheless, we stayed up till 9 o'clock in the evening. We took the bus from Kansai airport to Sannomiya, which was actually really easy. It took us about an hour and then Nicolette picked us up from the bus stop.

We went for a walk and then dinner... I thought... but it was lunch hehehe... JETLAG! ^-^ So we had our first Japanese food, which was great, especially the rice! It's AWESOMELY DELICIOUS :D Then we went back up the hill and up to the shrine next to their house to see the view XD Ollie is SOOO CUTE btw! I'll try to take some good pictures of the kids these weeks, but you'll still have to wait a bit, though :) Unfortunately Nicolette wasn't feeling very well... and apparently Alan was sick last night as well, so they probably picked up a bug on their way back from the US, hopefully they'll feel better tonight.

Wendy and me will go to the cable cars in a little bit, but first Wen is finishing the film of the first day in Japan... will post the link soon! ^-^

Love you all! Will keep you up to date :D

Opa and Mac came to Soton

Hi everyone :) Here is another one of my long stories with some very exciting news about next year :D Now don't scroll down and read that first... you have to read the whole bit Okay? ^_^

So last weekend Opa and Mac came to my crib to see where I live and have some quality time with me. I really enjoyed their visit, because I really HAD missed them a lot these last few months after christmas. But in just a little less than a month I'll be able to see them again ^-^

So what did we do, you might wonder XD Well.... they arrived on Friday and, after my lectures, I met them at Glen Eyre (my Halls) and showed them around a bit. We then went to town and shopped a little, had some juice and muffins at Pret and a walk through the park :D We then had a lovely dinner at Oxfords on Oxford Street where we actually had to SHARE a dessert O.O because we were so full from the main course... That NEVER happens!! But it was really good ^-^ So we left all filled up and happy :)

The next day we went to the zoo. Marwell Zoo. I'd been wanting to go their for ages and this was a good opportunity to finally go. The weather was really nice as well and the zoo not too far away from home. I did not actually realise how good our own zoo (Emmen) actually is compared to some others. I was quite dissapointed at how far away all the animals were even though they mostly didn't even have huge cages. Emmen really does a good job at showing the animals off and still keeping a good distance between the viewer and the animals. Anyway.... we had lots of fun. Iman also joined us, but my other friends were too busy with work and sports so they didn't come along. But it WAS a lot of fun with Iman there.

After the zoo we went into Winchester a bit and had a really good (very filling) lunch at 'The Slug and Lettuce' ^-^ Isn't that the best name for a restaurant ever?! ^-^ Anyway, of course we shopped a little as well and then headed home again where we played some more cards. Because we were so stuffed, though, we didn't go to the cowherds until about 8:30 and we didn''t even really have dinner there. Grandpa had 2 pints of Guinness, I had a ceasar salad starter and an eves pudding and Mac had a coke and a lemon meringue cheesecake. We took our time in the pub, playing 3 games of Skipbo. Of course Opa won 2 out of 3 and luckily I won one as well ^-^ The next day though, Mac won most of the games of hartenjagen (Hearts).

So on Sunday we started off going to town and walking only a little part of the Titanic Trail. I don't know what it was, but I had a very bad stomach ache that day, so we didn't walk that far in town. We sat down for a drink at Costa's and Opa bought me a backpack for my birthday :) Aterwards we did some more, gentle walking in The Common (the local HUGE park) and then played some more cards in my room. I did some food shopping with Mac and afterwards he, of course, won the game of Hearts again. They had to leave then, unfortunately, but I'll see them soon. I really had a LOT of fun with them. Just being with them is good enough for me, really, but they really spoiled me this weekend :D I love them loads! ^-^

So that was the weekend with my family :) Fun and love all around XD Then yesterday evening I had another PhotoSoc meeting and workshop where the committee for next year was elected. I was actually voted secretary (because no one else wanted to do it), but then afterwards no one wanted to become Darkroom manager either, so I swapped my secretarian-ship (^_^) for Darkroom manager and (as secretary is an easy job, for our society anyway) someone else opted to become secretary. So that's the big news! I'm so excited about it :D I'm going to be the Darkroom Manager next academic year!!!! ^-^

Just a few more days till Easter holidays now and in about one and a half week I'll be in Cardiff, flying to Osaka with Wendy :D Off to Japan! I can't wait ^-^ Then just a little week at home, but with a great Birthday Party waiting for me :D I'm turning 18!! Finally >.<

That's it for now,
Next time I'll probably be blogging from Japan
*does the dance* <(o.o<)............<(o.o)>...........(>o.o)>

A story about the last few weeks + Exam RESULTS!

I realise that I haven't updated my blog for a while now, but I have so much to tell ^-^ I've been so busy lately with study and mainly with people visiting me from Holland :D First Amber came to visit me, then Nico and Sigrid and Lotte was here for a week as well XD

With Nico and Sigrid I had a lot of fun :D We did 3 treasure hunts, involving a lot of walking and had a lovely dinner and game at the cowherds :) We brought Skipbo and Sequence and played some games between meals ^-^ The treasure hunts were great! We walked on the Southampton Walls, at the docks and in a huge cemetary in the Common (a park). The cemetary was really overgrown and Sigrid was a bit creeped out about it, but I totally loved it! We even saw a green woodpecker... well.... we saw it fly away really, but it was very green with a red head :D It was great seeing Nico and Sigrid again, because I hadn't seen them for about half a year I think. When I go home in summer I should really make an effort to see their boys again as well, 'cause I assume they've really grown a lot since I last saw them ^-^

So Nico and Sigrid were here on the 15th of February and the following weekend Lotte showed up XD She came on Friday evening and left last Thursday midday. On Friday we celebrated George's Birthday, which actually was the previous Wednesday, but he wasn't home then, so we threw him a dinner on Friday :D It was loads of fun and a good opportunity for Lotte to meet my friends. Then on Saturday it was the best weather ever! We did a pillow fight with Iman, in front of West Quay, which was really funny (you can see it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyYJQ_MTIrA)

It was the first day of spring, so Lotte and I went to the Common, where she read in the sun and I watched people and took pictures ^-^ It sounds a little creepy when I put it like that, but it really is a lot of fun seeing so many people playing sports, laughing and walking their dogs on these massive fields, and me being me, I had to take my camera XD It really was lovely weather and Lotte even got sunburnt! (it was only like 12-15 degrees O.o;)

In the evening, around 8pm, we went to a Gig for Gaza, which was basically a get together in Bridge Bar (a bar in the student union) where 5 different bands played, of which 1 was terrible as the vocalist was out of tune the whole time, but the last band was really amazing!
For the rest of the week I had classes, so Lotte had to fend for herself a bit, but I think (and hope) she had fun on her own XD On monday we went to the Cowherds as well, which was, as always, deliscious ^-^ and on Wednesday we made our own High Tea with sandwiches, scones, clotted cream and jam, tea (of course O.o;) and a pineapple cheesecake we made on Tuesday night :D It was deliscious! my mouth waters just thinking of that again *-*
After the high tea, I had to go to a viewing and George and I saw 4 houses, but didn't find one that we really liked... Then we did some food shopping and we drove to the vaccination place again to get me my second HPV vaccination..... I HATE NEEDLES! x_x And on Thursday afternoon I brought Lotte to the airport, we had some hot choco, and I went back to go to lectures.

Yesterday, George and I saw another 5 houses and we found a really great 4 bedroom house! XD I am meeting a guy who is looking for some housemates today to see if he's okay and wants to join us in this house and then I really hope to sign for the house within a few weeks :D

Also, I got my examresults back yesterday :) They are okay, but I'd liked to have done a bit better. I got:
61 for Biology, with which I'm really pleased! ^-^
67 for Chemistry IT and
69 for my Core Chemistry module :D
The grading is very different than in Holland as the highest level is 70 and higher, it is called a first. Then you've got upper second which is between 60 and 70, second which is near 60 I think, third which is near 50 somewhere and a pass which is 40 or higher. So it IS out of 100, but that is actually impossible to reach, sort of. I'm still getting used to the grading a bit, but just so everyone can put my grades into context a bit :D

So, I'll let you know how it goes with my housing, I really hope to sort it out before Easter, but I think we will :D So, that's it for today. Will write soon, I think... O.o;

Fun in the Darkroom *-*

I had the greatest evening yesterday! ^-^ I had a darkroom lesson at uni from photosoc. I was there with richard, a committee member, and meila another photosoc member. Richard explained that it is all in the preparation, because developing photos by hand requires good timing and very little light >.<

First he explained me how to develop the film. Meila had already developed her film before coming to the darkroom, so she just watched me do it... or rather hear me do it ^-^ First I tried the procedure with a film that could be destroyed and that went fine. The trick is, really, to have only the things you need in front of you and know exactly where everything is. Because when you take the film out of the round holder thingy (>_<) the light has to be OFF! And believe me, it gets really dark in the darkroom XD

Okay so, my first try went fine and then I did my actual film and luckily I didn't screw anything up :D Once you have the flim on a special spindle and then in this dark holder, you can turn on the lights again ^-^ And then the chemicals are added, one after another for certain periods of time depending on the film.... I still have to engross myself in all that a bit :)

So... while my film was developed and hung up to dry, we started doing some prints with Meila's film. All the stuff we use to print is just amazing! There is this large machine called the enlanger that is used to shine the right amount of light on a photographic paper and then the paper goes through about the same process as the film. First is goes into the developer, then the stop and then the fix. It's just like in the movies, a room lit in red safety lights and taking the paper out of the chemical bath with tongs and placing it into the next bath XD It's great! ^-^

So I had a great night yesterday. I learned loads and printed my first ever picture, on my OWN!! :D It is a pic of my mom! when we were at the osbourne house on the isle of wight in january 2009. I hope to print some more pictures of the film I developed, but I think I will ask Richard to help me one more time, because I wouldn't want to ruin any of the equipment *-* So, that's my story about yesterday night.

On valentines I'm going out for diner with my friends XD We're going to a lebanese restaurant! It'll be so YUMMY! ^-^ more stories about that and pictures will follow :D

Amber was here ^-^

Hey all! Here's another story for you ^-^ Amber was here for a week and I have to tell you about it a bit. So she came on Saturday last week and left yesterday at 5:40 am! O.O It was loads of fun!

So what we did:
On friday and saturday we went shopping, obviously, and on sunday we went to Bournemouth with my friends. We bought really cool stuff. Amber got this amazing dress and some tops and I got a long sleeved top as well. On Sunday we were supposed to go to Bath, but Iman and Sheena were late for the bus and then Verena wasn't even there yet.... She overslept, because she has a German alarm clock that didn't go off or was on the wrong time or something like that O.o; So.... our plans for Bath were cancelled and I was so excited about going to the glass factory and roman baths there, but well... we'll go there another time ^-^

So we went to the train station to jump on any other train and went to Bournemouth. There we went to the Oceanarium and saw loads of fish. We strolled around in the park and in town and saw loads of references to Baths.... which kept reminding us of the missed bus and cool trip O.o; But we had fun anyway. We saw squirles in the park and there was an aviary as well. Peter was a total bird whisper! We saw the first snow (the tiniest snow flakes ever, but still, it was snow. It's the thought that counts) and then the next day there was 5-10 cm snow on the ground so we were happy XD It only lasted for like 2 days though *-*

Okay so Amber stayed till Saturday, but I did have classes during the week. I was really tired after my classes as I hadn't had any for a while and I had to find my rhythm again, but with Amber there that was a bit hard.... so I was quite tired after classes and I might've been a little grumpy when I got home sometimes, but in the end we had fun, so it all turned out okay. In the week we went shopping again in Southampton once or twice and Amber went to town with Iman once as well, on the Thursday I think, 'cause that was my longest day at Uni. On Wednesday we had diner at Iman's and she made stuffed courgettes, a lebanese recipe, we helped to make it and it was absolutely deliscious! ^-^ *mouth starts to water again as she thinks back at that gorgious meal* XD

On Friday we all went out for diner in the evening at the cowherds: Sheena, Iman, George, Becky (a friend of Sheena's), Amber and me. Amber and I had already been there with the two of us on Tuesday, so the waiter, Ashley, already knew us XD (George asked his name btw and really embarrased Sheena when he told Ashley that she wanted to tell him something... 'cause Sheena had said earlier that he was hot ^^). We had a great diner and had lots of fun! The desserts were, of course, the best part :D They were heavenly! *-*

Then on Saturday morning, flippin 5:40 am I put Amber on the taxi and went back to bed. For the rest of the day I didn't do too much except for cleaning my room and bathroom and watching some random stuff on my computer. Then in the evening I went to the cinema with George to see a 3D film: My Bloody Valentine XD It was scary and gross and had a really good story line! We had loads of fun! ^-^

Tomorrow is gonna be a long day as I have a workshop, then a lecture and then 4 hours of LABS.... But the labs are with John, so it'll be FUN! ^-^ and hard work O.o;

So that's about it.... I still haven't had any exam results, though. It takes them quite long !O.O but anyway... If I hear anything I'll tell you about it right away ^-^

C ya! And keep in touch :D

ps. Gijs, I loved your message! kool to hear from you again :D Hope you're doing well and that your knee is doing better ^-^

Mom and Dad just left *-*

Mom and Dad just left here, on their way to Southampton airport to go back home :( Having them here was loads of fun and it was much better than last time, 'cause we had to unpack a lot then and we had a lot less time together. I had a great time this weekend! ^-^

So, what did we do?
On Thursday morning, Mom and Dad arrived. They first went to their B&B and then at about 12 noon, they we at my place. We went to the Cowherds, a great Pub nearby and had an amazing Lunch XD Then we went to the tourist information to get some information about gallaries in the neighbourhood and we visited 2 gallaries. It was quite funny, because in front of the tourist information we couldn't really park, so dad stayed in the car. Mom and I went to get some info, but when we got back and looked for the car we only saw a small english car with a really old man inside, so we thought that dad must've gone to find a parking spot somewhere or just drive around a bit.... The black car drove forward a bit and it turned out that it was dad who was actually in the car! This is not a joke or anything, me and mom really thought it was an elderly man in the car! >.<>

So, we saw some gallaries and went back to my place where we had a few sandwiches, we were still quite full from our late lunch. Then we went to the cinema and saw Seven Pounds with Will Smith. It was a great movie! Mom, of course, fell asleep in the first bit, but when it got a bit more exciting she stayed awake :D We had a good time. Then mom and dad left me at my place, 'cause I had an exam the next day, and went back to their B&B to get some sleep ^-^

The next day I had a 2 hour exam at 10 am, but I was already done at 10:50 >.<>

We made Hutspot and my friends really liked it, pfiew! ^-^ And for dessert we made an apple-blueberry crumble, it was delicious and really gezellig XD After diner we went to the B&B and slept there with the three of us. The next day, Saturday, we had a great breakfast and then went to the Isle of Wight. The weather wasn't that great, but at least there wasn't that much rain :D We went to the Osbourne House (where Queen Victoria and Prince Albert used to live) and then we drove around a bit, saw a few gallaries, drove some more, and had diner in a pub in Yaermouth. Then we went back by ferry and slept wonderfully in our soft bed and beautifully decorated rooms.

Then today, we had another great english breakfast. Then mom and dad brought me to my room, 'cause I had to study for my exam tomorrow!! O.O and then they went to Winchester, where they went to a Sunday Mass and shopped a bit, buying mom more clothes!!! O.o; (clothes here are really cheap right now, it's sale everwhere and the pound is relatively low compared to the euro, so mom and dad didn't hold back *-*). Then at about 2 pm mom and dad came back and we had another great lunch at the Cowherds XD YUM! I can still tase the deliscious desserts we had, I love my puds ^.^ After lunch we went to my room for a bit and then I saw mom and dad off.... they'll have retuned the car by now I think. It was great having dad drive in a car with the wheel on the wrong side! XD You should've been there, the engine stopped quite a few times and he kept hitting his arm on the door when he wanted to change gears ^-^ Hilarious XD

Anyway, they'll be checking in soon and flying home. I'm much calmer, though, then last time when they left, which is good. I've settled in quite well already and I have great friends here, which makes it a lot easier. Also, in living here for a while now, I've gotten more used to not having my parents around anyway, which really made me grow a lot I think.... O.o; wow I sound so philosophical now >.<>

Will keep you informed about my exam results, when I get them XD Talk to you later! ~xxx~ Fleury

(p.s. mom or dad, if you want to tell some more about what you did in Winchester and how you liked being here, feel free to do so XD It'll be fun to read your side of the story ^-^)

I got SHOT!!! O.O

hahahah got you! I didn't actually get shot with a bullet.... XD I got my vaccination today, against HPV which can cause cervival cancer. It is a vaccination that has to be done in three times, so I have to get another shot in February and June or July O.o; NOT looking forward to those... at all *-*

Anyway, I was stressing about my vaccination the whole day, as I don't do very well with needles, but in the end (as always) it was over quite quickly. George drove me to the shooting range (hahah kidding.... it was a school where they did the vaccinations) and he was very supportive :D He told me that he'd had so many shots already that he could fill more than an A4 O.O OMG! well.... he IS studying to be a nurse, so has to get many preventative shots, but still.... I could NEVER do that!

So... I got shot in the shoulder, studied a lot today and drank a lot of tea, which made me pee a lot XD (too much info? Too BAD! ^-^) Oh and mom and dad are coming next week! ^-^ Yeey! I'm thinking of taking them to the zoo (or actually they'd be taking me, cause they'd be driving XD) but I'm not sure yet... we'll see. I'll keep you updated, but not too often cause I have to study for my exams O.o; not that I really want to... >.<

Aaaaanyway... have a great 2009! If you haven't had any good days already and if you have, good for you!
Regards, Fleular! (at least a few people know what I mean by that XD right Amblar? ^-^)

A bit about my Holiday back in Grunn ^-^

Hey everyone!

I'm back in my room in Southampton again.... missing everyone already! But I must say, it's a lot less bad then when I got here in September. Mostly because I got really good friends now XD

So a bit about my x-mas holiday back home. It was the best! but it was over so quickly O.o; I did loads of things and I enjoyed every minute of it. When I first got home I could only think about having to go back to Soton again and missing everyone again, but a few days later I realised I simply had to enjoy the time I had in Groningen.

So the stuff I did:
I got a hair cut! yay! really needed that XD
I went to Beetsterzwaag to see some friends and had loads of fun playing games and watching The Bourne Ultimatum with Gijs. The best movie ever! and nice and cosy on the couch with Gijs ^-^
Then I went to Ilse and played Wii fit with her and her mom, which was hilarious! Then I also went to her fathers' and he taught me how to meditate, which is really helping me relax now. I try to meditate for 5 minutes every morning and it really helps me focus :D Also we went shopping of course, but not just once. We shopped 3 days in a row!!!! O.O OMG! First on the Friday I went shopping with mom, then on Saturday I went shopping with Ilse for some last minute x-mas presents and then on the Sunday I went shopping with Ilse again, spending some of the money I got for x-mas! XD

You should know that on the Saturday night we did the x-mas presents under the tree at home. Ilse was there, because it was fun and she wanted to be at my place for a bit as well. We got her some presents (last minute) as well and unpacked gifts for about 2 hours! Mom and Dad went all out for us 3 (me and my sisters) and got us money to spend! yeeey! ^.^ So on the Sunday the shops were open, so we couldn't resist to go shopping again XD.

Okay so.... then after the x-mas weekend, we went to the actual start of x-mas: the Wednesday evening mass in Church. It was a great mass and we had christmass breakfast at Inge and Harold's. The next day mom and I worked more on preparing the christmass diner (which we had already started doing on Wednesday) and we had the diner in the evening. It was great! The menu was:
- Duck and Pork Pathe with cranberry sauce
- A Salmon terrine with avocado stuffing and a lemony dressing
- A wild mushroom soup
- Spoom (champagne with icecream) with a raspberry sorbet
- The main course: Duch breast with a pumkin/ squash risotto and baby carrots
- The dessert (the most important dish ever!): Mini pavlova with raspberries, a chocolate truffel cake and a passion fruit pot (sort of like a passion fruit puddingy-thingy O.o;)
- Tea, coffee, cappucino and a game (Kolonisten van Catan obviously! Duhh (in English the game would be called Settles of Catan btw. just if you were interested *-*))
And that was our Christmas diner XD

Then the Saturday we went to the NK Allround in Heerenveen to see the speedskating and of course Sven Kramer! ^-^ I took loads of pictures, but most of them are rubish. I'll try to upload some of them later.

Sunday I went to Inge to scan a load of points for her and had fun with her and with helping Eliana with her homework :D Then we had diner at our place and played some more Catan x_x

Tuesday me, mom, dad and Lotte went for a walk in the park behind our house and walked on water! OMG! O.O ...... not really actually..... we walked on frozen water... whoopie, such a let down of our alleged superpowers O.o; oh well... the ice was really thick as it was freezing for a couple of days already and it was round -6, -8 degrees C this day. The ice was about 8 cm I guess, so we had fun walking and sliding on the ice. Lots of pics were taken... duhh..... what else to do with a camera if you have one? XD mwuhahahahaha :) (The pics will be on the right somewhere) So we had a nice walk and in the evening had a nice diner in Overstag in the city (had duck breast again! hehehe ^-^)

So that's about it.... next day I flew back to Cardiff with Wendy and went to bed after wishing her parents and her sister a happy new year over skype. It was only 11 pm where we were, but we were totally and utterly nackered.... so we missed the fireworks in Wales.... unfortunately, but I'm sure I wouldn't have been awake to see it even if I tried. When we were in bed, I think it took us about 2 seconds to fall asleep O.o;

Now I'm back in Soton.... had my first in-class-test today (went okay, but am not really sure untill I get the results (obviously)) and scheduled my vaccinations! O.O OOhhh nooo what have I done! *-* they're against HPV which can cause cancer in the uterus, so with the medical history of my family I'd better get it.... but I really don't want to! >.<

Oh one more thing. Sheena's birthday was last Saturday and it was Awesomeeee! We all had to bring something to eat or drink so I made a pavlova with apple and bananas (just because they didn't have any other fruit in the co-op that day o.o;) and there was loads of other good stuff there! So I ate loads XD There was lots of stuff left as well. One of Sheena's friends took about 60 cans of beer with him expecting lots of drinking to go on. But Sheena is still stuck with the beer I think, because most people took to the soda, vodka and cocktail stuff :D But it was loads of fun, we played poker and other card games as well and I really did eat too much x_x Anyway it was good!

So now you are kinda up to date I think.... the pics of our wintery walk are on the right. Love you all! (I think, unless some pervert pedo is reading this, then I don't love you O.o;)
Kisses!
